8x8 Ranked by Infonetics Research as a Top Five VoIP Provider
We’re proud to report that for the fourth consecutive year, 8x8 has been named as one of the top five hosted business VoIP and unified communications (UC) service providers in North America by Infonetics Research.
Infonetics Research just published its annual North America Business VoIP Service Leadership Scorecard. The report identifies service providers currently leading the hosted VoIP/UC and IP connectivity markets and those best positioned to succeed long-term. The rankings were based on criteria such as installed base of lines or seats, financial stability, market strategy, service capabilities and support options.
With our customer base of over 27,000 businesses, 8x8 has created a blueprint for the successful adoption of its cloud services by organizations of all types and sizes ranging from small and mid-size businesses to distributed enterprises to government agencies. 8x8 is committed to making every customer's transition to the cloud a positive, business-altering event that reaps significant rewards on an immediate and long-term basis. We achieve this by developing and delivering the industry's most innovative and affordable cloud-based solutions and by assuring the highest levels of reliability, quality of service and customer satisfaction.

iNum Nets Global Presence
In 2008, Voxbone launched iNums, which are global phone numbers to support IP communications. SIP trunks get you US numbers pretty much wherever you want, but iNums use a unique identifier and net you DID numbers in other countries. Voxbone currently offers DID numbers from more than 50 countries and 4,000 cities. iNum simply means "International Number."
The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) created the +883 global country code. Using the international number range of +883 5100 assigned to Voxbone, iNums enable a customer to establish a local presence in new locations with a single, portable number. Unlike traditional telephone numbers that are tied to geographic locations, iNums are not reined in, and remain with you anywhere in the world.
iNums are distributed and routed by a growing list of service providers. For locations that won't route iNums via a local provider, iNums are accessed by (iNum initiative's) local access numbers in 45 countries. Some providers will route iNum calls between other iNums for free. iNums also include SMS.
Now as iNums grow and are accessible by more providers, the opportunity for SMB or large enterprise to connect with prospects and customers abounds. Just like in the USA with traditional rates and tariffs giving way to IP, the international scene for obtaining a local presence is now uncomplicated. I see iNums as a tool for removing another barrier to communications.
Imagine this: all providers accept iNums. What will this mean for communications moving forward? Making calls globally is becoming inconsequential. Presence takes on the meaning of anywhere and collaboration is possible with anyone with a connection.
IP has pierced the traditional telephony veil and establishing a presence is no longer constrained by rates and tariffs or V&H coordinates, and collaboration isn’t restricted by lack of visas and passports. Along with the good and the bad, the world economy is edging closer to realizing global communications and collaboration in a new way.

One number, worldwide
Traditional phone numbers are tied to a particular country, or even a particular city, so when you move to another country you need to get a new number from a new supplier. iNum numbers however do not have this limitation and you can therefore keep your iNum wherever you go in the world.
iNum stands for international Number. It is a new kind of global phone number for a new kind of world -- a world with a new geography that's about local presence and global relationships, not about distance or national borders.
iNum is making use of the +883 global country code created by the ITU (International Telecommunication Union).
Voxbone, with deep expertise in VoIP and telephone numbers, was assigned +883 5100 in 2008 and started the iNum Initiative which maintains the SIP and administrative infrastructure to enable this global number range for IP Communications.

Conquering the limits of the area code

Based on pioneering M800 technology, this unique service overcomes the limitations of legacy toll-free services, which could only reach fixed landlines. Now, however, with a single number for all 31 provinces, you can extend your voice, Short Message Service (SMS), and fax communications to fixed, mobile, and pay phones across China.
While the service is used primarily for cost-effective and efficient customer communications, many global enterprises also deploy the China 4001 service internally. This saves roaming costs and keeps staff across China connected to each other and to their overseas’ colleagues or headquarters.
Delight Customers in China
Leveraging our integrated communications platform, companies can respond to customers more rapidly and consistently around the clock with China 4001 International Toll-Free Services. Using M800’s patented intelligent routing solution, you can route calls according to time or location, even down to city level. This helps you ensure that every customer enjoys exceptional personalized service from the right team, at optimal call cost.
The bi-directional China 4001 service also guarantees Caller Number Display to allow you to retain the contact numbers of callers and provide enhanced service for existing customers, who are recognized whenever they call. Customers you contact also benefit from being able to identify you as a trusted caller.
Going further, white-list configurations enable even higher levels of VIP customer service. Along with Black Lists, which block malicious use of services, these ensure a high level of authorization management.

We are proud sponsor of Olivia, the Red Panda in the Rotterdam Zoo. The first day outside.
The fact that Olivia and Perry are now outside in the park means not only that the public are now able to finally see them, but also that in a short while Rex himself will have to leave the zoo (to avoid interaction between him and his daughter – a father does not have anything to do with a daughter growing up, so he has no idea that she is his daughter). When he has left our sponsoring contract will be transferred from sponsoring Rex to sponsoring Olivia.
Olivia was born to Rex and Malou on August 10th, 2011. Her mother sadly died when Olivia was only a few days old. One of the caretakers, Sandra van Bruggen, bottlefed her at her home for a while, and then Olivia was brought backstage, and bottlefed by the Blijdorp team of caretakers. Then she was
Transferred to less liquid foods, and in the final stages to solid food and bamboo. Every new stage was very exciting, because each new stage is a potential death threat. We were very involved with her situation and were informed each stage of her progress. A few weeks ago we were allowed to see her again. Her weight had doubled from December 22nd, so she was doing really well. Such a relief!
How strange this introduction to her new outside home must have been for her: all this time she has been living in a special place in a controlled environment inside the Riviera-building; and now she suddenly has open air, an abundance of space, real trees, even a friend to play with! We can only imagine what went through her mind when she saw all that. Red Pandas are a very intelligent species, so it would be more than interesting to find out what she was thinking at the time of her release in the outside pavillion, which has no iron gates keeping her in; only a waterpart and a stone wall. But alas, there is no way of knowing that. Maybe it is just as well that she is oblivious to the fact that she made the paper as well. Her little mind would be spinning!

Vocalcom launches it’s award winning Contact Centre software to the UK
Paris headquartered Contact Centre specialist Vocalcom officially launches its web based unified contact centre software to the UK market at UCExpo. Already with over 4500 contact centre clients in Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Americas it has finally chosen this year to launch its UK operation based in Guildford, Surrey.
Mike Adolphy, Managing Director of Vocalcom UK, said “The UK is a a well-developed and mature market, so we know that in order to be competitive we need to launch with a product that is going to redefine how people think about Contact Centre technology. We are very excited about the impact we are already making in the UK and in fact many companies who have had a demonstration of the software expressed their astonishment at its innovative approach and to how much it can achieve for them as well as questioning why it had never been offered before.”
Vocalcom’s web based contact centre software was designed from the ground up, with the ethos of how customers want to interact with Contact Centres. The company also set itself the challenge of making it the simplest solution to implement and manage. It’s achieved that by making it 100% web-based, delivering the lowest TCO in the market as well as the fastest deployment. It claims that a fully functioning Vocalcom contact centre can be set up and running in days rather than months.
Vocalcom will be showcasing its Contact Centre solution in Stand 420 at UCExpo.

Our Technology Partner 8x8 Celebrates 25 Years of Communications Innovation and Leadership
"Being in the fast-paced competitive Silicon Valley tech environment has fueled our innovation the past 25 years," said Bryan Martin, 8x8 Chairman and CEO, who has been with 8x8 since 1990 and has seen firsthand the company's growth. "While so many companies have come and gone, we've managed to leverage our internally developed technologies to create new business opportunities ranging from supplying our proprietary vision processor chip to AT&T for its next generation Picturephone to licensing our service creation software to Lucent Technologies to launching one of the first VoIP phone services."
8x8 was founded in 1987 by Dr. Chi-Shin Wang and Dr. Y.W. Sing under the name Integrated Information Technology. Initially focused on developing multimedia semiconductors, embedded firmware and software, Integrated Information Technology changed its name to 8x8 in 1996 to reflect a new emphasis on programmable solutions for the videoconferencing market. (The "8x8" name refers to the number of video pixels, or dots of light, that are used as the basic building block in many image compression and video transformation functions.). The company firmly established itself as both a pioneer and trailblazer, paving the way in the technological development of VoIP phone service, hosting solutions, video conferencing and unified communications.
"8x8 has operated at the speed of technology, constantly keeping pace with the online and digital age we live and work in," said Martin. "We've not only been able to create innovative products such as our Virtual Office hosted PBX phone service, we've also been able to continuously update those offerings with adjunct services like Virtual Office Mobile and Virtual Room video conferencing to keep our customers on the cutting edge of technology as it moves into the cloud."
In recent years, 8x8 has made several key acquisitions cementing the company's leadership into the cloud. In 2010, 8x8 acquired server hosting company, Central Host, allowing 8x8 to offer managed hosting services and cloud-based computing solutions to business customers. 2011 saw two more acquisitions beginning with Zerigo, which expanded the hosting portfolio with cloud servers, virtual private servers, geographically aware DNS and full IPvS support. This was followed by the acquisition of Contactual, a cloud-based call center interaction management solutions company.
25 years and more than 25,000 businesses subscribing to its services, 8x8 continues to innovate as a leader in cloud-based voice and video communications with no sign of slowing down. "We've seen a lot in 25 years," said Martin. "Smartphones, the modern Internet and social media weren't even around when we began. We saw the dot com boom, survived the dot com bust and have emerged from the Great Recession with our stock up significantly. Now we're bringing SMB's, enterprises and government agencies into the cloud. As the next 25 years get underway, the sky's the limit for 8x8."
